Editor's Note
Blogfoolk # 406 opens up with Giulia Pisu’s essay “Il canto politico in Italia: il caso de Il Galeone”, a paper supervised by Ignazio Macchiarella, written at the end of three-year studies in Cultural Heritage and Entertainment at University of Cagliari. Starting from Paola Nicolazzi’s version, inspired by the poem “Schiavi !”, composed by the Carrara anarchist partisan Belgrade Pedrini in 1967, the work reviews the variants which have been created over the years. Our trip to Italy offers the recent release “I canti narrativi a Nardò” by the traditional singers Gaballo Sisters, edited by Dario Muci. The world music page starts with our week’s recommended record, which is “Poetic Trance” by Aziz Sahmaoui & University of Gnawa, to continue with Morgan Ji’s “Woman Soldier”. For the live music column, we propose the chronicle of the concert held by Amine & Hamza with Prabhu Edouard and the Carmen Souza Trio in Padua on April 25th for the festival “Risvegli”. Our book of the week is “Expressions of Sufi Culture in Tajikistan” by Benjamin Gatling. It’s strings time again with “Intrinada”, the new album released by the Sardinian guitarist Marino De Rosas, while for the Italian Sounds Good column we present “Fonexonos” by La Rua Catalana. Next review is Pepe Maina’s “Scerizza”. Our back cover is Valerio Corzani’s pic, featuring the Yellow Days.
