The news and analysis the last 36hrs has been absolutely phenomenal-- I've never seen anything like it.

18mo ago, any one if those articles would have had us talking about "windows" for a month.

The article 8 evidence recently, if released last year, would have had us over the moon.

Now, though, we just shrug and say "Fine, but the international visa/mc are still at a program rate, so who cares?"

Well, I care.

I am grateful we're seeing the real deal actions by the GOI and CBI occurring right in front of our eyes. And I'm especially grateful for all the teams here for bringing it to us.

Economic role of communication

Thursday 13 June 2019

Dr.. In the name of Brahimi

Recent studies indicate the importance of communication with the public, which is a key issue in the success of economic policies. It is a fundamental part of the policies. Therefore, economic reforms are liable to fail if they are not understood, ratified, accepted and influential in the target groups, especially with the spread of social media. The public is increasingly able to express their views on public policy and this requires greater transparency and accountability around the world, which increases the pressure on policy makers to better explain their actions to the public and clarify the justifications for their confidence.

Achieving effective institutional communication faces three major challenges that must be taken into account: First, trust, which is essential for the efficiency of an economy and the success of its reforms.

It seems from the available indicators that economic crises contribute negatively to confidence in economic policies and while communication can contribute Is important in restoring confidence, but that must be credible and that people do not feel that communication is based on maneuvering in order to pass certain policies because this will deepen the crisis of confidence between the institution And the public.

The second challenge is to learn from experience. Effective communication should be based on learning from experience as well as adjusting the communication process to suit the different areas covered by the policies, that is to say, the communication is based on data that is consistent with the target policy.
Influential.

The third challenge is the importance of acquiring new capabilities in communication, whether through new technology or using multiple channels and reaching the public directly with the least amount of mediation. This is crucial in countries where economic information is still under development or dominated by a certain political platform .

The increasing importance of institutional communication with the public to convey messages and clarify policy appeared to be on the IMF's procedures by creating a communication department to accommodate these variables and to clarify the Fund's strategy with external actors. I think we need to benefit from this in Iraq. that?. link

Brent crude rises for a second day after attacks on two carriers in the Middle East

14th June, 2019

Brent crude continued its strong gains on Thursday after an attack on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman, raising concerns about reduced crude flows through one of the world's major shipping routes

The attacks near Iran and the Strait of Hormuz pushed oil prices up 4.5 percent on Thursday, reversing a price drop in recent weeks on concerns about global demand

This is the second time in a month that tankers have been attacked in the world's most important oil supply region amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. Washington quickly blamed Iran for Thursday's attacks, but Tehran denied responsibility

By 0638 GMT, London Brent crude futures rose 23 cents, or 0.4 percent, to $ 61.54 an ounce, after rising 2.2 percent on Thursday. But Brent contracts are heading towards a weekly decline of about 3 percent, down for the fourth week

US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 1 cents to $ 52.27 a barrel after rising earlier. West Texas crude also closed up 2.2 percent in the previous session, but is heading down 3.2 percent on a weekly basis

Tensions have been rising in the Middle East since the US president decided towithdraw the United States from a global nuclear deal with Iran in 2015 and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran targeting its oil exports in particular

On the demand side, OPEC on Thursday trimmed its forecast for global oil demand growth due to trade disputes and cited the risk of a further decline than warranting extension of supply restrictions until the end of 2019

The organization and its allies are due to meet in the coming weeks to decide on maintaining supply constraints. Some members of the Organization are concerned about sharply falling prices, despite US President Donald Trump's demand for action to reduce oil prices

OPEC said in a monthly report published on Thursday that global demand for oil will increase 1.14 million barrels per day this year, less than 700 thousand barrels per day than previously estimated LINK
