Federal Reserve Figures on Unequal Distribution of Wealth
Quite an interesting article that showcases the disparity between the ultra-rich and us paeans (peed ons).
I like the fact he referred to Sen. I've-got-a-plan-for-that Warren's proposal for a surtax on those making over $50m/yr (only 2%). But he also stated that this only scratches the surface of the inequities.
While I agree in principle, the reality is that even if Warren got elected, she would have a hard time pushing her modest bill through Congress.
Remember, with great wealth comes great political influence in a system where many members of Congress are bought and paid for by special interests.
So, I'm afraid before we can address the inequalities in wealth, we need to take out the lobbies and move toward public funding of elections. Only this way can we reduce the influence of the super wealthy and return our democracy to where the framers meant it to go.
