"It has been fixed", Trump ignites trade war with new resolution

US President Donald Trump said an additional 15 percent tariffs on Chinese goods worth billions of dollars would come into effect on Sunday.
Asked by reporters whether the cartoons could be deferred to a later date, the US president replied: "They have been fixed." The charges will come into effect at 00:01 local time (04:01 GMT), according to the trade representative's office. Targeted goods include a wide range of goods, particularly in the food, textile and furniture sectors.
For a year, the two sides have been locked in a trade dispute with the exchange of customs duties on billions of dollars of goods, and negotiations seem to be deadlocked. But Trump said again that talks were underway between Washington and Beijing. "I can't say anything, but we are talking to China. We have talks with China. Meetings are planned. There are contacts going on," he said.
Abizaid and Trump: "I think the September meeting is still going on. It has not been canceled. We will see what happens."
But the Chinese side has not yet confirmed talks. Trump pointed out that "13 percent of companies will leave China in the near future," he said . "I think the figure would be much higher." LINK
