"Counterfeit Zim" by LCW - 11.10.19

I decided to check my ZIM notes in Sept after the blogs reported ZIM counterfeit notes. I bought a UV flash light (as demonstrated on YouTube) and tested the notes but to my dismay there were no glowing fluorescence threads/specs, nothing. My first thought was that my ZIMs were fake. I bought mine on Australian eBay site.

I researched a bit about UV light for detecting counterfeit currencies. UV counterfeit currency detectors are used to detect special inks in the bills that only appear under the proper wavelength of UV light. The suggested UV light at a wavelength of 365 nanometers is better for viewing the security features.

I then purchased a genuine bank Ultraviolet Counterfeit Detector with UV bulbs of 365 nanometers, photo as below. I first tested with other tradable notes, like AUD, VND, SGD, Yuan and they all fluoresced. Then I tested my ZIM notes. YES. They all fluoresced.

So warning. Do get a genuine counterfeit currency detector. It may cost a bit more but it is worth all the worry.
