In one sense, we haven't had an alternative to "tit-for-tat." In the absence of having a game to play, we often settle for jousting with one another.
That fits with the fact that the world we live in seems to reinforce that there isn't much a single person can do so, instead of taking decisive action, we spar.
What taking a stand for the end of unworkable conditions on the planet by a certain date does is it causes a stirring of the Self, the Soul.
Much of what Werner Erhard talks about can best be understood if one keeps in mind that he's talking about events in consciousness - which the Self is.
When I took my stand, I felt much more than a stirring. I felt a fire inside me. This fire consumed the malaise that I otherwise felt, the hopelessness, the despair. What a difference it is between malaise and fire in the belly.
I could not sit still after that. I had to be in motion, not lying around in a hospital bed.
I lost interest in my elegant opinions and my sense of being right in things I say. I touched into what Werner talks about when he says:
"You and I want our lives to matter. We want our lives to make a real difference - to be of genuine consequence in the world.
"We know that there is no satisfaction in merely going through the motions, even if those motions make us successful or even if we have arranged to make those motions pleasant. We want to know we have had some impact on the world. In fact, you and I want to contribute to the quality of life. We want to make the world work." (1)
No amount of self-satisfaction or even pleasure in repartee came close to the feeling that I was now on a useful path where before I could see nothing useful to do.
I hope someone does take up the work of recording projects and bringing lightworkers together. I hope that someone takes responsibility for creating universal medicare for America and the world, universal basic incomes, homes for the homeless, etc., all of it by Jan. 1, 2023.
There is work for everyone here.
