The Disruption Roller was out on Pali the last couple of days. This is a wheeled implement that is lowered down steep trails by the winch cat. The objective is to pack and impact snow by disrupting potential propagation pathways within the snowpack. The roller is an avalanche mitigation tool and it is also a tool that helps improve ski quality. It is most effective when there is about 2 feet of snow on the ground. The project is a joint effort by the Snowcat Crew and the Snow Safety Team.
