Editor's Note
Our issue #435 starts from “In Taberna”, Cafè Loti’s latest release. It’s the super-trio lining-up Nando Citarella, Stefano Saletti and Pejman Tadayon. They offer a space-time sound journey sailing across The Mediterranean, leading us from Spain to the troubadour France, arrives in Naples and in southern Italy, meet the Sabir language and the Persian poetic tradition. The trio accompanies us, then, through the stories told in the medieval “Codex Buranus” reinterpreted in a folk feeling. We have spoken to the three “magistri vagantes” about the recording which is Foolk Magazine’s Disc of the Month. Next to the world music route, we head to Rwanda for “Rwanda, You Should Be Loved” by the trio The Good Ones, produced by Ian Brennan, with a few Western guests. Back to Italy for “Bedda Sicilia. Musica da danza siciliana” of the Le Matrioske quartet, a disc that investigates the dance dimension of the Sicilian traditional music. We move to Naples for a focus on "La Sindrome di Wanderlust", a new album for Neapolitan trio Gatos Do Mar. It follows Flavio Poltronieri's “Note di un viaggio in Bretagna” (Notes from a trip to Brittany), accompanied by an unmissable playlist. You’ll find the chronicle from Avion Travel’s gig, held on November 24th at the Teatro Vascello in Rome. We propose Mario Bonanno’s essay entitled “Francesco De Gregori. Il sovversivo della forma da «Alice» a «Bufalo Bill»”. The jazz page brings Stefano Bagnoli We Kids Trio’s “Dalì”, while in the Contemporary Music column we deal with “Live At Easy Nuts Lab” by Alberto NA Turra - The TAAN Trio. Finally, in our back cover Valerio Corzani’s photo of Giorgio Li Calzi.
