How is it a done deal if it is only temporary? I don't understand that part then.
Lambchop » February 1st, 2020
They had never had a PM resign before and this is the person that would fulfill the completion of Madhi's term until the next election. Thus...temporary. IMHO

There has to be a Transitional Prime Minster to lead them to the Election, it's an Opportunity for him to Shine and it will be a Landslide Victory. To be fully effective the New Election Law needs to be in place. This removes the Iranian Votes and will generate an Iraqi GOI for the Citizens. The Battle was Won, now to Win the War!

IMO......Early Elections will not guarantee a PM that the citizens prefer.......tawfig allawi is their(and our) best hope to get things done anytime soon....
Think about the following:
The people do not elect the PM
Maliki received the most votes as an individual in the last election
Saron received the most parliamentarians in the last election and was therefore the controlling bloc
I believe Abadi's bloc received the second most followed closely by the Iranian backed Fatah Alliance
Fake News is rampant everywhere......mere propaganda
Come on CBI......WS said you were ready last weekend, why would you not be this weekend?.....It's only 6:50PM. Saleh apparently has not yet made an official proclamation. Press conference time, show a unified Iraq behind the new PM designate and in conjunction make your announcements you wanted to make last weekend......the Citizens and the country deserve action......

Yes, 2Cents is right. Elections over there don't mean crap. Just because they have an election doesn't mean the people are going to get what they want. I would put more stock in the fact that we applied the appropriate pressure to a son of Kurdistan to do what was right for his region and his country by choosing someone that his friends, the USA, are willing to accept and can work with. We just need a button push to start the train rolling down the hill and it is over for Iran at that point. IMO.
