Editor's Note
With “Lusìa”, their latest production, Almoraima renew their exploration of the possible connections between flamenco, jazz and world music. We have talked to Massi Almoraima, guitarist and leader of the Salento band. Still on the paths of world music, we present "Loosening the Strings" by the Ethiopian, English resident singer and krar player Haymanot Tesfa. We continue with Sylvain Leroux & l'école fula flute’s "Tyabala" and "Sambol. Amor Migrante ”, Guappecartò’s new release, in which the Paris-based Italian combo pays homage to the repertoire of the Rijeka composer Vladimir Sambol. Following the trajectories of the dialogue between different musical traditions, you will find "Spartenza", the result of the collaboration between the Sicilian Maura Guerrera and the Algerian Malik Ziad, featuring Manu Théron. Then, it is the turn of "Tarantella dell’emigrante", from Salvatore Rossano and Santa Taranta’s "Songs from the Homeland". It’s the first episode of #CASA L'Italia da lontano, the new column curated by Giorgia Salicandro. At the Post-Modernissimo Cinema in Perugia we watched “Caterina”, the documentary film directed by Francesco Corsi, dedicated to the figure of Caterina Bueno. Then, we move to the Jazz Cafe in London for the chronicle of Kefaya and Elaha Soroor’s gig. It follows a special session of “Italian Sounds Good”. Finally, Valerio Corzani took his camera to capture Kyle Eastwood.
