As a committed community, we are, for the most part, outside observers trying to ascertain or entertain the possible timing and magnitude of our magnificent event.
We simply don't quite know "when" do we? There is an old biblical proverb which is applicable to our current situation. It reads:
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life."
That's right. You read it correctly. There is a tri-fold emotional connection between our desires, our personal perceptions and our physical well-being.
So take heed and take heart. Our current dilemma can impact our feelings and thus our physical health...Corona virus notwithstanding. (Smile) Moreover, any emotional upheaval may feel differently for each of us depending on our personal perceptions.
Perhaps it may feel like trying to swim upstream in a river filled with peanut butter! Or attempting to wade through 3 feet of snow in short pants. Ouch! We are making progress, but OMG, at times, isn't patience a painful process?
Perceptions and perspectives must be altered.
A few years ago, I hosted several associates from Europe here in Southern California. For some in the group, it was their first time in SoCal. They proposed to meet for dinner at a popular downtown Los Angeles restaurant, on a Friday evening no less.
I attempted to explain our world famous phenomenon called "LA Commuter Traffic"... especially on a Friday evening. Their disbelief was without experience and left them wondering how a 10 mile trip from Venice Beach to downtown Los Angeles could ever take longer than 30 minutes, 45 minutes tops, accounting for the most egregious traffic conditions.
Our drive took over two and a half hours! My guests were in shock. They went on to explain that in Europe, they could have driven through 3 entirely different countries in less time! Amazing!
I sheepishly admit, at one time, our now infamous GCR delays, would have literally, physically, made my heart sick. To date, however, merely by a change in my perspective, a mindset geared more towards an attitude of gratitude, any delay is now seen as an continued opportunity for me to get ready, be ready, and stay ready!
My geopolitical awareness has expanded greatly. My fiscal and economic understanding is now "off the charts". My overall sense of purpose and civic responsibility has entered into a wonderful season of love, light and living. And I have met some incredible new friends. Indeed, I never would have imagined such growth could be possible while simultaneously "feeling" broke, busted and disgusted.
They are just "feelings" good people. This waiting has taught me to master these feelings through the power of prayer and patience. We are close. Can you feel it?
May my personal testimony and transformation add a blessing to your lives.
